Mother and Child

Representing the “Rebirth” piece of the series within the Homecoming exhibition of “Life, Death Rebirth”.

On a cosmic bed, bathed in the ethereal glow of a distant moon, a mother and child lie intertwined, forming their own self-contained universe. This image, a reflection of the artist and his mother, explores the profound and often unspoken dynamics of their relationship within a boundless, imagined space.
The deliberate isolation on the moon, overlooking distant planets yet untouched by their grandeur, underscores the singular intensity of the mother-child bond. This cosmic setting also hints at a spiritual connection that extends beyond the physical.

The piece further contemplates the simultaneous rebirth and death inherent in this dynamic: the woman’s transformation into a new self through motherhood, and the child's arrival into the physical world, a journey begun anew. Despite these profound shifts, the central image is one of profound connection, a beautiful and enduring bond forged in the quiet intimacy of their lunar cradle.
